Mercedes-Benz these days make a convertible version of anything and everything. The latest model they have dropped the top on is the E-Class coupe which they have tuned into the new 2018 Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet. This is a four-seater convertible with a soft top for those who may find the C-Class Cabrio a little too small and a S-Class Cabrio a little too big.
One gets the feeling Mercedes is looking at the smartphone makers for guidance in expanding their model range because there is something for everybody in there. That’s a good thing economy-wise, but it makes the once prestigious brand lose a big chunk of its charisma and exclusivity. At any rate, the 2018 Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet is, as you would expect from an excellent consumer product, chock-full of features and gadgets and equipment. And the roof, it can be fully opened and closed in 20 seconds when travelling at a speed of up to 50 km/h.
Whatever you could possibly want is available. You get comprehensive smartphone integration with a wireless charging and key function, a widescreen cockpit and the latest assistance systems, AIR BODY CONTROL multi-chamber air suspension, DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes, PRE-SAFE, MAGIC VISION CONTROL windscreen washer, ARTICO/DINAMICA upholstery, AIRCAP automatic draught-stop system and the AIRSCARF neck-level heating, Acoustic soft top insulated against heat and cold, heat-reflecting leather, optional 4MATIC all-wheel drive, Mercedes Connect, and…
As for the engines and the way the car drives, which these days seems to be the least important thing about a new car, the 2018 Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet launches with a range of diesel and petrol units, all hooked up to 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission. Later on more specific engines including an AMG unit will become available.
