Official: 2018 BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo

We are not entirely sure even BMW themselves thought the world needed a practical version of the 6 Series, which is a big, sexy coupe, but that’s what they have come up with now. By replacing the old 5 Series GT the all-new BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo does not fill any gap in the market, nor does it address a particular need. But with the new 8 Series coming BMW probably just wants to find a way to keep the 6er around.

What 2018 BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is, basically, is a bigger 5 Series sedan with a tailgate at the back which makes it a hatchback of sort. The car comes with M Sport and Luxury Line packages and a choice of three engines from launch, but no M variant for the time being. The car is pitched as a posh and plush Gran Turismo with a ton of practicality and awesome features, and thank God it doesn’t look as ridiculous as its predecessor, the 5 Series Gran Turismo. The front-end is still a bit iffy, but the back and the entire cabin are works of art. In terms of practicality, you get boot capacity of 610 litres and  40 : 20 : 40 split backrests through which you can increase that volume to 1,800 litres.
