Jaguar has started to familiarize people with the sight of the new Jaguar I-PACE Concept, not just because it will soon enter production but also because it shows where the company’s design language is headed in the near future. So they dispatched the working concept to the street of London, and we have to say it did look pretty good out there in its new Photon Red color.
If you know nothing about the Jaguar I-PACE Concept, it is Jag’s first electric vehicle nspired by the C-X75 supercar and bringing a coupe look tot he SUV segment. So it’s a lot of things, but it has the substance to support so many roles. The car boasts a Formula E-inspired drivetrain with 400PS and 700Nm of torque, a range of 500 km on the European NEDC combined cycle and more than 220 miles on the US EPA cycle, and a 0-60 mph time of around 4 seconds. What’s more, the batteries can be charged up to 80 percent in just 90 minutes with a fast charger.
Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar: “The feedback on the I-PACE Concept has been fantastic. With the I-PACE Concept we’ve torn up the rule book to create a vehicle with supercar inspired aesthetics, sports car performance and SUV space, in one electric package. It has surprised people and the enthusiasm for our first electric vehicle has been beyond all my expectations. Driving the concept on the streets is really important for the design team. It’s very special to put the car outside and in the real-world. You can see the true value of the I-PACE’s dramatic silhouette and powerful proportions when you see it on the road, against other cars. The I-PACE Concept represents the next generation of battery electric vehicle design. For me, the future of motoring has arrived.”
