So after years of rumors and speculations we now know for sure BMW is resurrecting the 8 Series, and that it will look something like this. The BMW 8 Series Concept, built as a showpiece for this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, previews that production model and gives us a pretty good idea about its size and proportions.
It does make sense for BMW to build a new 8 Series because for years Mercedes and Bentley have been running away with the luxury coupe market. Now they will face some tough competition in form of BMW 8 Series Concept which not only benefits from a good and well-loved name, it also looks pretty amazing, something the cannot be said about the majority of BMWs launched in recent years.

The BMW 8 Series Concept features and aggressive face with uncharacteristically, for a BMW, slim headlights and extra large kidney grilles. It also has some large and sporty intakes and grille which could be hint about the huge engine the production model will get, most likely a V12. The side and rear view remind us of the current 6 Series which by the way could be in danger of getting dropped. As for the interior, the design is surprisingly minimalist for a luxury coupe, but then BMW says the focus here has been on the job of driving and they didn’t want to distract the driver with unnecessary garnish.
“The BMW Concept 8 Series is our take on a full-blooded high-end driving machine,” says Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design. “It is a luxurious sports car which embodies both unadulterated dynamics and modern luxury like arguably no other. For me, it’s a slice of pure automotive fascination.”
